In the world there are 18.000 children dying every day of diarrhea due to lack of hygiene. At the beginning of 2015 the world counted 52,9 million refugees. At AccorHotels worldwide, tons of soaps are wasted every year. It’s time to act.
The un-used hand soap recycling program in a simple way is a new innovation in reducing waste of used soap as a form of support for environmental conservation. Soap for Hope is an innovative program initiated by Sealed Air as part of their active role in protecting the environment.
AccorHotels Group has been arguing the case for sustainable development since 1974, in a pioneering – but completely natural – approach. And this great program is fully supported by our group. The new recycled soap will be displayed in the hotel and guest could take it for free or even do a small donation for this. This donation will goes to AccorHotels Bali Lombok CSR program such as Sanggar Yayasan Peduli Tunas Bangsa, located in Candi Kuning, Bedugul, a learning center for underprivileged children in Bali and Lombok as an expansion of its sustainable environment and poverty alleviation program A Tree for A Child (ATFAC).
General Manager Christophe Bernard Keramaris says, “Through this project, we have a chance to safe lives, provide livelihood and help hotels reduce soap waste and make them useful again.”.
As part of AccorHotels worldwide, Novotel Bali Nusa Dua has committed to support this project by collecting in average of 5 kg used soap every month.
