Plant for the planet: “Here, YOUR towels plant trees”

Earth Day on April 22, 2010 Accor revealed the progress of the ongoing “Plant For The Planet” project that shows a commitment of 1.000 Accor hotels worldwide to finance the planting of one millions trees worldwide.

Novotel Bali Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences has been actively participating in the program since 2009 by encouraging guests to re-use the towel. By re-using towel, the hotel save the washing cost and every five towels saved, one tree is finance for planting.

In partnership with United Nation Environment Program and with support from Kinomé, world’s leader in reforestation, the “Plan For The Planet” program rolled out for seven forest areas in Australia, Brazil, Thailand, Senegal, United States, Romania and Indonesia, with support from the designated foundation in each country.

For 2009, Novotel Bali Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences guests had re-used 2.443 towels that translated into 488 trees. While for this year, so far there has been 3.145 towels re-used, or equal to 628 trees ready for planting which, with your continuous support, the number will keep on growing.

The benefit of this program is shared by local community of Glandag Village in Central Java, where the reforestation program is, in collaboration with State Forestation Company (Perum Perhutani II) and Yayasan Tunas Bangsa foundation that would reinvest the profit shared toward education of the young in remote areas.
