Accor and The Community: An element of a happy study

Earth Day on April 22, 2010 Accor revealed the progress of the ongoing “Plant For The Planet” project that shows a commitment of 1.000 Accor hotels worldwide to finance the planting of one millions trees worldwide.

Novotel Bali Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences has been actively participating in the program since 2009 by encouraging guests to re-use the towel. By re-using towel, the hotel save the washing cost and every five towels saved, one tree is finance for planting.

In partnership with United Nation Environment Program and with support from Kinomé, world’s leader in reforestation, the “Plan For The Planet” program rolled out for seven forest areas in Australia, Brazil, Thailand, Senegal, United States, Romania and Indonesia, with support from the designated foundation in each country.

Novotel Bali Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences, on its three years participation of Tri Hita Karana (Balinese Concept of Sustainable Environment) has retain the Gold Award status for the third times.

Accompanying the gold achievement award were Novotel Bali Benoa and Mercure Sanur, while Sofitel Seminyak took the top honor of Emerald award.

Based on three pillars of Parahyangan (harmony of mortal to Creator); Pawongan (harmony of human relation) and Palemahan (harmony of human and environment), the participation underline the understanding and active participation of the hotel on the importance toward sustainable tourism.

On international forum, Novotel Bali Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences is also on “Certified” status with GreedGlobe 21.

Accor Bali Lombok swings for charity with ‘Spirit of Smiles’ Golf Tournament

Over 100 golfers gathered on Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the neighboring Bali Golf & Country Club to participate in The “Spirit of Smiles” Golf Tournament.

Tee off by Mr. Gerard GUILLOUET, the Vice President of Accor Malaysia-Indonesia-Singapore Mr. Guillouet in his opening speech outlined the tournament goal was to raise fund for Bali’s underprivileged children that part of Accor Bali Lombok hotels’ Corporate Social Responsibility program.

Mr. Thierry Gasnier, General Manager of Novotel Bali Nusa Dua Hotel & Residences and current Coordinator of the CRS for Bali & Lombok region, also on the spotlight by giving update on the on development of State Elementary School 3 in Taman, Sangeh; a remote area in the mountainous region of Ubud.

The tournament was closed with an exquisite dinner prepared by the Chefs of all hotels Accor Bali Lombok, during which the winners were given well deserved trophies, and an auction to raise additional funds for the CRS program’s continuity.
